I'm a Physics M.Sc. student first — so this page opens with the two reports behind my degree: the ab-initio DFT study of ZrS2 and ZrSe2 for NIT Silchar, and a summer of first-principles calculations at IISER Kolkata. The software I build to speed that kind of research up follows below.

Ab-initio DFT study of monolayer & bilayer ZrS2 and ZrSe2
My M.Sc. dissertation: a density-functional theory study of the two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides ZrS2 and ZrSe2 — from relaxed crystal structures through to band structures and density of states. The through-line is the monolayer–bilayer comparison: what a second layer, and the van der Waals gap it opens between the two, does to a 2D material's electronic structure.

First-Principles DFT Calculations on Crystalline Materials
The report of my summer at the Department of Physical Sciences, IISER Kolkata (May–July 2025): first-principles calculations on crystalline materials, worked through two codes — plane-wave VASP and the all-electron Elk. Total energies, relaxed geometries, band structures and density of states: the full pipeline from a raw crystal structure to physics you can plot.

Software Projects
Tools I built so that research — mine and everyone else's — moves faster.
Built with help from AI. I developed these projects with AI coding assistants as a pair-programmer — for boilerplate, debugging and documentation — while the physics, the architecture and every final decision stayed mine.

VASP post-processing & visualization suite
Flagship
A cross-platform desktop application I built with PyQt6 for analyzing and visualizing VASP (Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package) output. VaspViz turns raw first-principles data into publication-ready figures — band structures, density of states, optical spectra and more — without writing a single line of script. What used to be an afternoon of matplotlib plumbing becomes a few clicks.
